How Can Deteriorated Vision Be Treated?

About two months ago I started to have trouble focusing my eyes and was given a prescription for glasses. They are the first pair of glasses I have ever had but now that a couple of months have gone by I have come to realize that my vision has deteriorated to the point where, with my glasses, my vision is worse than it had been before I got them and my vision with out my glasses is horrible. Do I just need a new prescription or could there be something else going on with my eyes that glasses won't fix. Thank you. Oh and if it matters I am 23 years old and am female.
