How Can Cough Be Treated?

Been down with rhinovirus about a week. Mainly in chest with a constant itchy cough. No fever. I cough up a lot of green substance. Been to doctor twice. Am taking Stahist Ad and Benzonatatate 200 MG now. Was on Metamucil extra strength before with no result. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The green mucus is probably related to a bacterial infection.

I suggest you to do a chest X-ray.

Probably prescribed antibiotics may be needed.

Meanwhile, you should continue with mucolytics and drink a lot of liquids.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
