How Can Cough And Pressure In The Ears Be Treated?

I injured my ribs in a fall 2 months ago and ever since i have had a deep dry cough. Last week i went to the mountains at a high elevation and the cough became productive with yellow mucus. driving down the mountain my ear canal became blocked and now, along with the cough, it sounds like i am under water but its not painful. its also like i had been in a pool, when i tilt my head down the water in my ears crackles.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I think you may have developed glue ear due to pressure imbalance between your ear and climate. Rapid climbing also causes adjustment disorders called acute mountain sickness may also present cough expectoration etc. Chewing gum use, frequent yawing may give relief.
Use ear buds for pressure balance. Use tablet Montelukast and Levocetrizine once a day for five days. Water vapor inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day for five days.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
