How Can Constipating And Flatulence Be Treated?

My colon has been surgically removed five years back. For now almost one year I am experiencing constipation and flatulence inspite of the absence of colon, which causes discomfort in my lower abdomen. I tried laxatives like Marilax and lactulose which would give me temporary relief. What can be the cause and how to overcome it?

Hello,

If both are there, then it is altered bowel syndrome.

You need to get CT scan done to get ruled out if any disease of bowel is there and stool culture is necessary to come to any diagnosis.

A general examination for abdominal tenderness is also necessary.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
