i HAD COLON CANCER SURGERY 6 MONTHS AGO.mY ONCOLOGIST SAID i DIDN T NEED CHEMO BASED ON THE PATHOLOGY REPORT AND BLOOD WORK.yESTERDAY i SAW MY GASTROGIST aFTER LOOKING AT THE PATHOLOGY REPORT HE SAID i SHOULD HAVE HAD CHEMO.nOW i NEED TO BE EVALUATED AND START CHEMO.i WAS WONDERING IF THE CANCER COULD HAVE SPREAD DURING THE SIX MONTHS I DIDN T GET CHEMO

Even though the pathology report indicate to be negative and chemo has not been started based on the report, regular follow-up is necessary as many of the cancers are known to recur even after complete surgical excision. Hence, additional treatment in the form of chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy might be necessary during the follow-up. It is difficult to predict in the initial stage during surgery as to whether chemo needs to be started or not. Kindly follow the instructions as given by your doctor now and do the necessary follow-up as advised.
