How Can Chronic Nausea Be Managed While On Doxycycline?

I have 2 doxycycline pills left for a ten day perscription. Was given to me for bronchitis, sinus infection. Have been extremely nauseated. Is it ok to NOT take the last two pills. I have tried tums, acid reducers, crackers, etc. to combat this side effect.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

In my opinion, you should definitely complete your course of antibiotics. Incomplete antibiotic courses predispose you to develop antibiotic resistance and that makes future infections harder to treat. Hence,

1) Complete your antibiotic course, i.e. take Doxycycline for the last two days.
2) For nausea, you could take an anti-emetic like scopolamine or emeset.
3) Additionally, it is likely that the antibiotics are causing these symptoms as they change the normal flora in your gastrointestinal tract.

So, you could take pro-biotics containing Lactobacillus. Consume more yogurt than you normally do.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
