How Can Chronic Migraine Be Treated?

Hello my name is Ann I have had chronic migraines for over 15 years. Botox over the past 4 years has kept my migraines down to five or six episodes a month. However I seem to be in a crisis now---I have had migraines for the past 5 days. I am concerned about my pain medication. I am taking Fiorcet sometimes; other times Amerge. My family is here for Thanksgiving and I would , of course, like to enjoy the holiday. Do you have any advice regarding pain medication?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to a migraine. I would recommend trying anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen three times a day.

If the symptoms continue you should consult a neurologist about taking prescribed medication such as Triptans.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
