Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a healthy 57 year old female(never smoked) who has had a chronic cough for over 10 years. It has progressively gotten worse. I use a variety of cough suppressants to control it. My primary physician orderd tests from a pulmonary specialist and everything appeared to be okay. He thought it was due to allergies. What should I do next?
I understand your concern. Assuming the pulmonary specialist excluded any pulmonary causes, and if you do not thing your cough is allergy related, seasonal or food related, I recommend you see a gastroenterologist, to investigate a possible acid reflux, which often is the cause of cronic dry cough. I hope this helps. Wishing you good health and all the best.
