How Can Chronic Cough And Shortness Of Breath Be Treated?

I have had a chronic cough, low energy and shortness of breath for the past 5 months. I ve been to my GP and have gone through several rounds of different antibiotics, inhalers, decongestants exc. I do get better but it keeps coming back. I have an appointment with a Pulmonary specialist in a late next week but was trying looking for others who have had similar symptoms to find out what worked for them.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Such a recurrent problem can be either-
- Allergic bronchitis... where allergen needs to be recognised by allergy screening test&treated by desensitization therapy or avoiding allergen.
- The bacteria is not sensitive to the antibiotic used....here sputum culture &sensitivity test followed by sufficiently long course of suitable antibiotic is given.
-x ray chest would recognose dense lung tissue to treat specifically.
Thanks.
