Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. I lost my voice while at a concert about a week ago. Two days ago I started coughing (I thought it was related to losing my voice and my vocal chords healing). Now my nose is starting to run, not congested, just keeps draining. These are my only symptoms. The runny nose doesn t bother me much, but this cough is horrible. Cough drops (HALLS Triple Soothing Action) seem to keep it under a bit of control, but I hate having to keep using them one right after the other. Is there an antihistamine that would be good to replace or work with the cough drops?
I carefully read your question and understand your concern.
There are a few things you can do to help with the cough:
1. nasal saline solution lavage a few times a day 2. tablets with chlorpheniramine and pseudoephedrine 3-4 times a day- caution is that this might cause a little drowsiness so watch activities that need attention like driving. 3. drink plenty 4. continue use of menthol lozenge
If no improvement of symptoms in a week or any worsening you will need to see your doctor.
I hope this is helpful and answers to your question but please feel free to write us in case any more clarification is needed on this.
Kind regards,
Antoneta Zotaj, MD
