How Can Chronic Backache Be Treated?

A nurse gave me 2 candy gummies, about the size of a quarter. Should I take on empty stomach or eat something first Also how much should I take I have chronic pain in my back for about 20 years. I had 2 back Operations, 3 shots in back , went to a pain center 2 times, chiro- Practor, and tried every pain pill around. I am 79 years old, have spinal stenosis, scoliosis, almost every Disc in my back hearneated. This all started with 2 car accidents, Where I was hit severely in the rear end of my car and was told The first time I locked my back, cause I put both feet on the brakes As when he rear ended me, he was pushing me into heavy traffic I don t see the term of this website Is there a charge? Thank you Carol lepper

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here are my thoughts.

Post-accidental back injuries wherein many discs have herniated, surgeries done and treated by Chiropractor and all as you mentioned indicate that the pain is chronic and almost fixed with secondary changes in the spine, the muscles around and so on.
I would suggest you the following in such a situation:
First of all accept the situation so that the stress and anxiety factors reduced. This in turn helps in pain management.
Since you have already tried so many or say all the pain medications some sort of surgical management may help you.
Also try Naturotherapy and/or acupressure or puncture as these help a lot.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
I find this answer helpful
