How Can Chest Congestion And Wheezing Be Treated?

I am asthmatic and have had bronchitis since mid January. To date, I am still very congested. I have had two rounds of antibiotics, 6 weeks or more of prednisone, promethazine syrup, benzonate, rescue inhalers, breathing treatments and advair 250/50. My chest xray came back normal but I am still very congested. I have been to 4 doctors over since February - urgent care, 2 family physicians and lastly, an allergy and asthma specialist. While the coughing has decreased, I still am wheezy, and congested and have bouts of coughing that have hurt the muscles in my chest like you can t imagine. What do I do? I need to get rid of this cough.

Hi welcome to the health care magic

You are known case of asthma and having bronchitis attack also in past...

Your cough is because of excess mucus production...

You have to investigate with CBC and AEC count and spirometry...

Spirometry will be useful for assess your severity of bronchoconstriction and accordingly management

If needed you will be given levosalbutamol and budesonide nebulization therapy for two times in a day for three days...

If AEC high then ALLEGRA M drug prescribed for ten days

If your CBC shows high neutrophils then sputum send for culture and accordingly antibiotic given

You regularly have to consult one allergic specialist pulmonologoist and follow his advise

Hope your concern solved

Consult pulmonologoist with allergy specialist with keeping my answer in mind and discuss your treatment plan

Let me know you if you have further query
