How Can Blood Sugar Levels Be Kept Under Control?

What are the most commonly prescribed generic medications for controlling blood glucose in Type 2 diabetics. I am currently on Metformin 1000 mg, 2x daily. My morning glucose levels are averaging around 140. My doctor keeps trying to prescribe name brand, very costly medications. I want generic. Please help.

Hello,
Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic!
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.

Metformin is very effective and is a relatively cheap drug. Your blood sugar level is pretty much controlled with metformin and thus you can stick with the same.
Metformin is g]the generic name and you can choose the inexpensive one from the pharmacy in case your doctor forces for costly brands.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
