How Can Bee Sting On The Toes Be Treated?

i have a bee sting (non allergic) on the bottom of one of my toes and i am unable to remove the stinger. it is a little swollen and a little red so i will take an antihistimine and advil and put cortisone cream on it (it happened late yesterday and i have not done anything yet.) is it ok that the stinger is still in? will it eventually come out by itself?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

What medications you have been given is fine for a bee sting. The sting should come out eventually after the edema subsides. However, if it could be removed early, it would be better for you.

If it is deep-seated, it needs to removed by exploration through surgical means. Kindly take care of the wound and keep it clean so that it doesn't become infected.

You can cleanse the region with antiseptic solution like Savlon or Iodine solution.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S, General & Family Physician
