How Can Balance In The Legs Be Regained After A Fracture?

Yes. My wife suffered complete sudden neurosensory hearing loss in one ear some years ago. It took a while, but she recovered her balance until she broke her foot in January and had to get around in a wheelchair for weeks. She still uses a walker or cane, but has totally lost her sense of balance. How can she regain it?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Main reason for loss of balance is damage to the ear. If the foot is paining, she can walk with support, but the balance will be good. Vestibule of the ear is responsible to maintain balance while walking and cerebellum of the brain is responsible for maintaining coordination of movements of the whole body.

Detailed ear and brain examination is required. Please consult neurophysician and ENT surgeon as soon as possible. Treatment depends on the cause and hence, can be decided after complete clinical examination and investigation.

Hope I have answered your query.
