How Can Appetite Loss Caused By Methylphenidate Be Treated?

I have a prescription for methylphenidate to help with my adhd, the problem is that while on it I lost my appetite and now even when I don’t take it I still have no appetite. I know eating is important so I make myself eat but I just feel nauseous and have to deal with it. At first it wasn’t bad because I would still eat but just smaller quantities but now it got to the point where I can go days without being hungry. Is there anything to do that will help me get my appetite back?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Some suggestion that I can give to you to treat appetite loss are:
-take vitamin C supplements
-consult your doctor about an alternative medication that does not have this side effect
-limit fluids
-consider taking appetite stimulating medications.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
