Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a 30 year old son that has non verbal LD. He struggles with socialization, anxiety depression, some symptoms and has been receiving counseling for OCD. He lacks confidence, struggles with being able to keep a full time job. I would say verbally he is gifted and has a very strong memory.I need some resources for supporting him as an adult. He has had to return home after being on his own for 2 years.
I can understand the pains you all must be going though due to the psychological illness of your son who is already 30 years old, problem with socialization, non-verbal LD and so on. The most important part is the psychological set up one develops and one can surely find the jobs or work, self occupation and so on as per the personality. There is no point in pushing through the limits and cause more mental trauma in such people. Time is the solution in many such cases. Surely carry on the counselling but do not force through. Try to get the help of an occupational therapist that will help your son the best to find the most suitable work for him.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
