How Can An Insect Bite On The Index Finger Be Treated?

Hello, I was bite by something Thursday night or Friday morning while sleeping (probably a spider). The bite is on the side of my knuckle on my index finger. Friday it was uncomfortable with little swelling, Saturday the redness and swelling encompassed almost half of the back of my hand and was rather uncomfortable. So I used some ice packs and quit working. Sunday morning it looked and felt much better so I tried to get some work done. That didn t last long the swelling is back and very uncomfortable. Any help, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Insect bite can be treated by following means:
1. Cleanse the region with mild antiseptic solution like Savlon.
2. After drying, apply Fuscidin cream over the area.
3. Keep ice pack if the swelling is more and painful.
4. Take anti-inflammatory-analgesic medication like Ibuprofen twice daily after food.
5. Take antihistamine medication like Loratidine once a day.

Keep the area clean and dry. Avoid getting it infected.
Gradually, the wound should heal and be back to normal.

Hope I have answered your query.
