How Can An Infected Wound On The Leg Be Treated?

I received a gun shot wound a week ago n the right leg. entrance was just below the main calf muscle and exit above the ankle. My concern is the black and blue toes with skin looking yellow on the leg. Ido not think its compartment syndrome. should I be concern now or wait a day?.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
A gun shot wound involves a fast kinetic energy transfer through tissue along with bullet... which causes a through & through opening in tissue ( including skin, soft tissues & bones & joint here ). This is filled in with necrotic tissue... exposed to infection form both the ends ( entrance & exit wound ) All the changes you observe are due to this type of wound.
Management of infection/ saving of tissues like skin, soft tissues, tendons, muscles & alignment of fracture in any.. forms immediate concern.
You have already waited for one full week... I would advise for immediate consultation of an orthopedic doctor & get specific treatment for saving normality to best possible extent .
Thanks.
