How Can Allergic Wheezing And Breathing Difficulty Be Treated?

My husband is allergic to cats. Due to the hurricane, we have had our 2 cats inside. He takes a 24 allergy medication that helps. But when it gets bad, he typically takes Benadryl and is soon better. Tonight he took 2 Benadryl and it seemed to help. But then he got a head ache, said he was very cold, and after he fell asleep has been wheezing and breathing difficultly. Should I be concerned? What should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to the health care magic

Allergic inflammation leads here headache and cold

Benadryl can lead sedation so sleepiness present

Here your work up needed with...
-Auscultation
-Spirometry for assess severity if needed
-if symptoms severe than x ray for bronchitis
-CBC with AEC

If AEC count more than 400 than Allegra M course taken for 10 to 15 days...

Stream inhalation done two times a day

Turmeric powder one tsp added in hot milk and taken daily

Take care

With keeping these in mind consult allergy specialist or pulmonologoist
