How Can Acute Bronchitis Be Treated?

I had acute bronchitis in early October that was awful as my immune system is bad. But it has been relieved. I still have a productive cough and sometimes coughing up some lite yellow and clear mucus. Is this from allergies or just residual from bronchitis

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

Thank you for reaching out to Health Care Magic.

Acute bronchitis is usually seen with a bacterial or a viral infection. In both cases, the symptoms are similar.

These symptoms include the following -
Cough
Expectoration
Fever
Weakness
Difficulty breathing

Here are a few things that can help with some of the symptoms -
Drinking lots of water
Gargling with warm salt water
Getting lots of rest
Take warm showers
Inhale steam
Take a balanced diet
Sleep more than 8 hours a day

Along with this, discussing antibiotics with your doctor would be a good idea as well. Yellow color mucus is likely to be seen with infection and less likely with allergies.

I hope this helps. Please reach out to me if you have any other questions.
