Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
We ve been doctoring with my son for the last five months he s 17 he s lost 20 pounds he s very active football and basketball player he s thrown up in the morning and after he eats meals we did an HP test and it was negative we have them on an acid medication right now we didn t EGG and saw that he had asked him acid burning on the top of the Of the stomach I m just wondering what s the next thing we need to do because it s not getting better
Acid reflux can be treated in many ways the most important being diet and lifestyle modifications. I suggest my patients to have small but frequent meals, avoid or decrease spicy foods and coffee specially at bed time, raise the head end of bed by 5 inches.
If not controlled with these, I either suggest syrup Gaviscon 2 tablespoons before each meal, or capsule Omeprazole 1 tablet in the morning before breakfast or any tablet Itopride three times daily before meals, according to the need if patient.
However, I will suggest to always consult your doctor before starting any medications.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammad Zahir Shah, Internal Medicine Specialist
