How can a surgical wound on the nose be treated?

Had skin cancer surgery on my nose. Dr wants me to use Vaseline on the dissolvable stitches instead of neosporin. He said Vaseline is just as effective as neosporin & will prevent the stitches from dissolving too quickly. However,I m very concerned about the site becoming infected. What do you think- Vaseline or neosporin?

neosporin is antibiotic and Vaseline is moisturiser..according to me neosporin is better the way you will not be applying for long
