How Can A Shoulder Injury Be Treated While Suffering From Hypertension?

I am a 56 year old woman with hypertension (taking Losartan and Hydrocholorothiazide) shoulder injury is healing. I am working out on a treadmill and recumbent bicycle. Wondering what my target heart rate should be while excercing and for how long? I only have 40 minutes each morning to work out. I am 183 pounds down from 203! doing good but hit plateau and adding more excercise...I don t do math well. I need the numbers...help or refer me to a doctor that can. Thank you in advance. :)

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here are my thoughts.

Your main concern looks to be weight loss which you have managed from 203 to 183 but has hit the plateau in spite of working on treadmill and recumbent bicycle. Hence my advised would be to for diet control as well to get down weight. Consult a Dietitian to get a proper chart as per your needs so that you loose more weight.
Your another concern is about the heart rate. With exercises the heart rate will surely increase and thus it is normal to have raised heart rate. How much again depends upon many factors like our resting heart rate, your weight, the speed or the vigor with which you do exercises.
Hence get your heart rate and cardiac evaluation first so that you can know how much exercises to do without causing any problems.

Hope I have answered your query.
