How Can A Red Bruise At The Methamphetamine Shot Site Be Treated?
i attempted to shoot meth in a newly found bicep vein and although i was able to pull back blood i didnt push much before i stopped and went somewhere else i knew would be easy to hit. there is no mark where i inserted the needle in after pulling it out of where iu first tried-nor pain so im less concerned of the clear risk iv users run of getting infection....mostly im shocked to see this huge dark red bruise that i didnt know was there until i looked-this is 12+ hours after injection. 10 minutes after injection I was rubbing the little lump away thinking id help spread out the miss but now there is no lump and strawberry colored mass id say is over 2inches in diameter. im terrified of abcesses but theres no pain of course i am high so maybe i just dont feel it.i rarely ever bruise anywhere-and i never bruise without injury and continuied pain-in fact i feel bruises more than they show so is this a blood abcess and how do i treat it safely and quickly? thank you
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I cannot say in your particular case, but generally, the vessel constriction effect of methamphetamine is the source of the problems.
Vessels can get damaged by the needle, the vessel constriction, or even infection. Damaged vessels leak out blood. These need professional attention to fix them.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Matt Wachsman
