I jammed my thumb 3-4 days ago and it hurts so bad there is a consistent throbbing. It has gotten so swollen that I feel like it s going to burst, it s very tender and it s building pus around the bottom of the nail up to the middle of the nail then to about th middle of my thumb(Kinda like a oval shape)then goes back and connect with the part under the nail. Sometimes it goes numb and sometimes it has a tingling feeling anlong with the pain and now this feeling and pain is actually going all the way up my at! What s wrong with my thumb, and what should I do? PLEASE HELP!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The swelling and throbbing pain along with pus indicate there is an infection in the deep tissue. It's an emergency and you should urgently seek medical advice to get an x-ray and sometimes to drain the pus. so don't delay your visit to the doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
