How Can A Painful Knee Injury Be Treated?

Hi doc... I have a grade 3 flap tear on posterior horn of medial meniscus of right knee as per MRI report... I have pain in my joint and leg due to this.. The doctor advised me arthroscopic surgery... I m a local club cricket player... and i wanna play again. I have read somewhere that removel of torn meniscus may lead to arthritis later on and the stress on the knee increases.. So i m little confused abt surgery option. Plz let me know what to do in this situation.
