How Can A Muscle Pull In The Hips Be Treated?

I pulled a hip muscle in therapy, and it is resting on a nerve that runs down the top of my leg just past the knee cap. I stopped therapy, but this has now been 3 wks. I was in therapy for a slipped vertebrae, L4. My S1-L5 was fused 9 yrs ago, and now the L4 has slipped. (Spondylolisthesis) I didn t need this pain from the muscle and leg. It is causing me to hardly be able to walk. (I m 73 and awaiting a new surgery. Original Dr no longer does extensions. I already take 2 600mg Ibuprofen a day and two tramadol. I have used heat and even a tinz? unit.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms seem to be related to a pulled muscle. Some advice that I can give to you is:
- Use anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen.
- Use anti-inflammatory gels such as Voltaren gel for local relief.
- Use cool compresses at the area.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
