How Can A Large Lump In The Breast Be Treated?

Ok I have a bird egg size lump at the 6 o clock position almost on the edge of the breast bone. doctors can feel it but does not show up on ultrasound, told me just to let them know if it got bigger, this was 4 months ago. Yearly mammo is normal but I have dense breast. Should I get a second opinion? I am 57 years old and I am post menapause, I had a partial hysto at age 35, still have ovaries

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your lump could be due to fibroadenoma, fibrocystic breast disease, cancer. I would suggest to consult a general surgeon. Diagnosis require proper assessment by general surgeon, radiologist and pathologist. Undergo USG scan and FNAC, cancer marker like CA 19-9, should be done to rule out cancer. Specific treatment depend on cause. Avoid stress, take healthy diet, drink plenty of water, do regular exercise.

Hope this may help you. Contact further if follow up needed.

Best regards,
Dr. Sagar
