Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I have had previous kidney stone but have had 6 water infections over 2 months have had an urgent ct scan which has revealed many kidney stones but the largest being 16 mm , I have had previous surgery in May, how will the best way be to remove this one.
A 16 mm kidney stone is hard to remove by medical management because anything more than 8mm can't pass through vesico ureteric junction. So endoscopic surgery called PCNL is the best option.
Time being, have plentiful oral fluids and water to flush the system. Take urinary alkalisers and NSAIDs like Advil for pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
