How Can A Boil Under The Arm Despite Taking Antibiotics Be Treated?

Hello, I have a boil under my arm which is located in the armpit and I have had it for 5 months now but it had gotten way bigger and I have taken antibiotics and I use the cream that my doctor has proscribed me. I have been putting a hot wheat pack on it but nothing is working and it’s hurting so much from 1-10, it would be 10 and it had also gotten a lot redder but I have also been keeping bandages on it and keeping my arm up, as told by my doctor. It hasn’t developed ANY head and as in other questions, it has not burst. What should I do because it’s becoming unbearable and I have school very very soon and it needs to go QUICKLY! Help me please

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history of boils, my treatment advice is -
1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like Fusiderm cream on it.
3. Take a NSAID like Ibuprofen.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like Levofloxacin, Cefadroxil and Azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
