I have a UTI and my Dr. Prescribed sulfamethoxazole/Trimrthoprim. I have a lot of allergies to antibiotics like penicillins Quinolones and Macrolide drugs. The prescription is 6 pills for 3 days. I think it is too strong for me . What advice would you give me.

Hello dear
I understand your concern
You have allergy to penicillin, macrolide and quinolones group.
sulfamethoxazole/Trimrthoprim is included in the sulfonamides group and      Dihydrofolate reductase inhibitor group.
So it can not cause allergy to you
It is highly effective against the UTI.
So do not worry. Take as per your doctor advise (Two times a day for 3 days)
Along with this you can also take tablet pyridium
Syrup cital, drink plenty of water and juice of cranberry, orange and pineapple.
Maintain proper pelvic hygiene. Do not delay in empty the bladder and empty it completely
Hope this may help you
