How Can SLE Treated?

I am a 38 year old white female. I was diagnosed with SLE in August 2015. Last Friday, February 17, 2017, I had routine lab work done to check my liver and kidney function, as I take chemo via injection, every Monday. My rheumatologist also ran several other tests. Today I received a call from her nurse regarding my results. Typically, they just leave a message, saying, April, this is Denise, with Dr. So and So s office calling with the results from your lab work, your liver and kidney function look good, keep taking your meds as prescribed. Today, however, was different. The message was, April, this is Sherri from Dr. So and So s office, please call me when you get this so we can discuss your lab results. My heart sank as I knew this was not good news. Anyway, she informed me that my liver and kidney function still looked good and to keep taking my chemo as usual, however she had ran my dsDNA again and it was elevated from when I was in the hospital in December. When I was diagnosed in August 2015, my dsDNA was 23, in December 2016 it was 22, on February 17, 2017, my dsDNA was 34. She informed me that indicated my disease is progressing. I am not in a flare and have been feeling better, so this makes no sense to me at all! Please if you can shed some light on this for me I would greatly appreciate it. I have also left a message for my doctor to call me back. Thank you for your time.

Hello,

No cure for SLE exists. The goal of treatment is to ease symptoms. Treatment can vary depending on how severe your symptoms are and which parts of your body SLE affects.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
