How Can I Lose Weight Gained By Continuous Steroids Treatment For Bronchial Asthma?

I have been admitted in hospital for bronchial asthma and doctor has given continuous steroids treatment. With in 3 days in hospital i have put on 5 kg. Now how to remove this steriods from my body and how long does this steroids stay in my body. What to do to loose my weight?

Hi,

It is understandable to be concerned but since fat cannot build up in that period of time, the increase in weight noted for the first few days would have to be due to fluid accumulation.

Steroids can also cause the body to retain fluids, this would the initial weight gain that you are seeing. When the course is discontinued, the fluids should be eliminated.

If you needed to continue the steroids for weeks or months, then any weight gain that occurs may be due to fat build up.
