Hello, Thnx to contact us. If I am your treating doctor I would like to advice you that as you have relations from 12+ months your chances of developing the HIV increases. In my advice you should start with the anti retroviral therapy and wait for the result to come. In many cases HIV may be on window period during which period the HIV may not be detected in the blood by some tests. So I advice you to go for some of the confirmatory tests like PCR, P24 Antigen. Even if you do not show positive results with this tests than you are free from HIV and stop the treatment. If you have anything else to ask please contact me. Thanx. Dr. Arun Tank

Hi
If you had an unprotected sex with your HIV + partner then you are at high risk of getting the disease.

So you can take a DNA PCR test which will give you a most confirmative result. If you are negative then you are lucky and if it is positive please GO for a CD4 counts which will guide for a type of treatment.

Even for a positive result good drugs are available to prolong the life span.

All the best and get the test result
Hope I have cleared your doubts
