Hi,...Last Sunday (6 Days Ago), I Walked Into A Sink

Hi,...Last Sunday (6 days ago), I walked into a sink hole on the pavement and fell directly onto my left knee which immediately became swollen. When I arrived at my destination, I was given ice packs and continued this for about two days. I've also been using an ace bandage for knees. It's been turning colors e.g. red, bluish, etc, and is still sensitive and stiff, although I can bend it slowly to my chest, etc, and I can walk, although it's stiff and sensitive when I step up or down on a curb. I've also been taking advil as an anti-inflammatory. Question: Is it necessary to have an x-ray or should I now continue with some heat to stimulate blood circulation? Thank you -
