Hi, I was on a doctor-guided HCG 500-calorie/day diet for nearly 23 days. Around day 22, I started getting lower abdominal pain, headache, nauseaus, bloated, couldn't eat, was weak & believed I was getting fevers from a UTI I was treating w/AZO for a few days then realized that I needed to see my Primary Care Physician. The next day, I confirmed that I in fact had a UTI with 101.8 fever, later finding out that I also had a Kidney infection, dangerously low hypokalemia & was spilling protein in my urine. I tried to get rid of my fevers with Cipro at home but when my fever went up to 102, per Dr's instructions, I went to ER & was admitted for 4 days. They had to flush me out/hydrate me with saline & Potassium, later also having to take Magnesium & Potassium to get my electrolytes in line. Later, the Doctor that was overseeing my HCG Diet said that there was no way that the HCG Diet could have given me Kidney & Bladder infections, or any other Kidney problems that I had. Are there many cases indicating Kidney Failure with this HCG Diet?
