Hi, I am a male in my late 50s with a diagnosis of border line osteoporosis. There is a a family history of osteoporosis especially for an aunt of mine and I don t want my condition to worsen too. I do not want to take Actonel or Atelvia to build up my bones due to the risk of developing an incurable osteonecrosis of the jaw. Many post menopausal women use up to a .1 mg transdermal estradiol patch such as climara, alora or vivelle-dot with good results of building bone back by 1 to 4% over two years as shown in several studies. Is it possible for a male to use this same treatment even though there would be some chance of gynecomastia developing along with reduced sex drive? I could accept those side effects to get my osteoporosis reversed. Could a man handle two of the .1mg patches at a time since I have a body weight of about 205 pounds? Can doctors prescribe transdermal patches for a guy if he signed some kind of a release? Thank you for your help on this issue for me.
