Hi, I Am Pregnant And Went In For My First

Hi,

I am pregnant and went in for my first round of bloodworkand everything came back great, RPR was negative. Around my 19th week I started having trouble with mt right eye. My eye doctor sent me to a retna specialist who said I have uveitis with iritis. He sent me to a lab for some bloodwork. I get a call a few days ago saying that my TPPA was positive for syphilis. I then followed up with my OB/GYN and had an RPR and TPPA test done both with negative test results. He said that the first test is most likely false positive. The retna specialist is having me see infectious disease doctors for another follow up. So basically I have had tests done from two different labs with two different results. I guess the third test with the infectious disease doctors with either say yay or nay?! I am so confused and so stressed about this. I don't ever recall having any symptoms. What am I supposed to think at this point? I do have psoriasis, could that be causing a false positive?

1. Is the FTA-AB test more accurate than the RPR and TPPA tests?
2. If I do have syphilis, will they be able to identify the stage that it is in and will I and my baby be able to be effectively treated?
3. Wouldn't I have had some symptoms at some point? I have been with my husband for 9 years, so i would have had to be infected before that...isn't 9 years enough time to see a symptom?
4. I had mono when I was a kid; would that cause a false positive?
5. My mother has RA, but I do not. Could this still through off results?

Thanks for your help!
