Hi I Am A Graduate Student Clinician In The Field

Hi I am a graduate student clinician in the field of Communication Sciences and Disorders. Administering videofluoroscopic Swallowing Studies (VFSS) stand as a big part of our field especially in certain medical settings. Speech-language pathologists are in the room and serve their clients different consistencies of foods, have the clients try out different postures, and maneuvers etc. while these studies run on their patients. Some speech-language pathologists could do these studies multiple times daily and some do so less frequently. I am interested in working in the medical setting; however, this aspect of radiation exposure is really making me want to stay away from these swallow studies even for my medical externship. I understand that these studies will each probably not expose me to so much radiation, but is that good enough. Does whatever amount of radiation these studies expose people to result in a risk? If so what are the risk factors and what would you suggest.
