Hi Dr. Rynne, I have tenderness and a bruised feeling in/around what I believe to be my xiphoid process. I am a 53-yr.-old female, 5'2", and weigh between 110# and 115#. I do take pain meds, as prescribed, for chronic pain. (I have stenosis, fibrosis, arthritis, DDS, and bulging disks in my neck.) These pain meds include: Vicodin, Zonisamide, Trazadone, hydrocodone-acetaminophen, and Nabumatone. I also have migraines (shots every 3 mos.), and take Synthroid, too. Could these medications finally have caught up with me and might they affect my xiphoid process in any way? I never felt my xiphoid process until about a month ago. Strangely, I have developed a pea-sized knot in the arch of my right foot, as well as the beginning of the same in my left palm, both in the last week. Neither are painful or discolored, but seem to be attached to tendons. Is there any correlation with these new developments and the meds and/ or xiphoid process? What gives?
