Hello, Last August My Husband Suffered A Heart Attack At

Hello, last August my husband suffered a heart attack at 38 yrs old. He was a smoker (has quit since his heart attack) and also has genetic heart disease. Currently, he is doing great. However, his EF is at 32% and his cardiologist is recommending an ICD. All of his blood work has come back great, meaning his cholesterol level is normal with all of the meds he is taking. His bottom left chamber does have a lot of scarring which the doctor says will not heal. My question is, does he really need an ICD and should we be worried that his EF is only 32%; can he get better with so much scarring?
