Hello, I've had symptoms for the past 3+ years that include dizziness, light headedness, loss of ability to hold on to anything in my hands during an episode which occurs after I've been sitting for a long period of time and then get up. If I don't lean against a wall or sit, I think I would actually pass out. The sensation lasts for up to 5 minutes or so after sitting. The sensation is best described as the way you feel after getting out of a pool: I feel heavy and almost like I have vertigo. I've been diagnosed with AFib but have had an ablation and am doing well. My cardiologist had me wear a monitor and track the symptom but nothing showed up. I've had issues with low hemoglobin, had iron infusions and now have levels around 11. I have diabetes (A1c=6.3). I have asthma that for the past year has only been controlled by taking large doses of prednisone. Attempts to get me off have been unsuccessful. I am currently on a maintenance dose of 20mg every other day. I also have issues with my kidney function (creatinine =1.24) Meds (lots) include: metformin-1000mg 2/day, Cardizem 120mg, Xarelto 20mg, Losartan 25mg, Insulin, HCTZ 25mg, folic acid 1mg, magnesium oxide 400mg, calcium +D, and multi-vitamins. I recently stopped taking Singular after being on it for over 10years because of suspected possible adverse effects. I also stopped taking PPI's over a year ago(I had been on them for around 7 years) because of suspected as causing the issue with my kidneys. I've also recently switched from Symbicort to Breo.
My biggest concern with the dizzy/lightheaded episodes is the loss of ability to hold onto even something very light like a pencil when it happens. And also, the episodes have been happening more frequently over the last 4-5 months. I try to take my time standing but it doesn't always happen right at that time. Sometimes I can walk about 12 feet before the heavy sensation hits me and I feel like I'm going to pass out. I've had a neurological consult but the MD didn't take my symptoms seriously. He blew them off as probable diabetic retinopathy. (I don't have any symptoms of numbness or tingling but I do have slight balance issues)
I hope someone out there will be willing to seriously take a stab at this difficult diagnosis. Thank You!
