Hello. I am a 68 yr old female who has been smoking at least a pack a day for 53 yrs. Attempts at quitting in the past have been unsuccessful. My primary physician will not prescribe Chantix because of a past history of depression. I dislike any kind of gum. That leaves the patch. I have been on NicoDerm patch for 8 days now and have not smoked. As in the past though I started having a bad reaction after the 5th day. The area where the patch was is red, itchy and raised. I am antsy and shaky. I really want to quit and I am afraid if I give up on the patches I will lose the fight. Any advice for me please?
