Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I am 35 year male and would like to get a tattoo. This would be my first one but was wondering if I need to consult with a doctor first? I am not currently under the care of a Hematologist, but in 2009 I was found to have a superficial thrombophlebitis in an arm I had an IV in for surgery. Was given a dx of low positive antiphospholipid antibodies and D-dimer. This was after 1 of 2 surgical procedures I had done. I was on Coumadin for 2 weeks after the second surgery. I was told there was no follow treatment needed, but to mention the clotting issue if ever needed to under go surgery again. Have under gone dental procedures with no problems, but tend to get denied from blood banks when I try to donate blood since then. Would it be okay to proceed with getting a tattoo or should I go see a Hematologist first?
