Head Injury, Knot, Dizziness, Discomfort, Did Not Lose Consciousness. Should I Be Concerned?
Female, 52 years old, good health. I fell backward and hit my head on the concrete floor on Saturday evening. Of course it hurt bad and I have a knot there. I didn't lose consciousness but was dizzy and couldn't move for a few minutes. Felt okay yesterday with slight discomfort. It's Monday morning now and my head, in the back where I hit, hurts worse now than it did yesterday. Should I be concerned and/or go let a doctor check it out? We really don't have a lot of money but I don't want something even worse to happen. Darlene
The main problem with head trauma is that you can not look inside to see if anything serious like brain injury or bleeding happen. That is why it is kind of risky to leave it without medical attention especially if the symptoms are getting worse. Symptoms which you have mentioned can indicate something serious. Please note that blood vessels are getting weaker with age and even minor trauma can cause serious bleeding.
So answering your question, yes you should be concerned and visit your doctor. Head CT might be necessary.
Hope it will help. Regards.
