Have headache and ringing in the ears for a long time, was on atkins diet for which had splend. When will this go away?

Hi have a question please. I was on Atkins diet for five months. Durning this time I ve suffered with extreme headache and ringing in the ears. Then realized I ve been eating 6 splenda a day in 2 cups of coffee. Atkins bars 2 a day that have splenda in it and all sorts of diet soda durning the course of the day, Also has splenda in it. I ve read just recent that splend can cause headache And ringing in ears. I ve now stopped all splenda products for past two days. When will headaches and ringing in ear stop?? Will this ever go away ? Ps. I ve never had tinnitus and ringing in one ear has been going on straight for almost 2 months. Thanks Laura

hello there!
Thank you for asking. due to your recent food modifications these symptoms have occured and i believe they cope up with migraine as you have used some triggers with excess including coffee.
you need Selective serotonin receptor (5-hydroxytryptamine–1, or 5-HT1) agonists (triptans)
Ergot alkaloids (eg, ergotamine, dihydroergotamine [DHE])
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
Combination products

after getting prescribed from GP with avoidance of triggers which are mentioned below.
lack of sleep, fatigue, stress, certain foods, use of vasodilators will worsen it.
use a daily diary to document the headaches. This is an effective and inexpensive tool to follow the course of the disease.

Below mentioned dietry inclusions to be excluded from your diet to avoid triggers.
Alcohol - Particularly wine and beer
Caffeine overuse or caffeine withdrawal
Aspartame - eg, NutraSweet and Equal
Monosodium glutamate (MSG) - May be found in Asian food, canned soup, frozen or processed foods, and the seasoning product Accent
Fruits - Citrus fruits, bananas, avocados, and dried fruit
Nuts - Peanuts, soy nuts, and soy sauce
Tyramine, a biogenic amine that accumulates in food as it ages, may provoke migraine. Sources include the following:

Dairy - Aged cheese
Meat - Bacon, sausage, luncheon meat, deli meat, pepperoni, and smoked or cured meat
Pickled foods
Heavily yeasted breads - Eg, sourdough
Vinegars - Especially wine vinegar
Some types of beans

Recently FDA approved TMS trans cranial magnetic stimulator and it has shown promising results.

If the problem persist seek the help of neurologist with co consult of otorhinolaryngologist for ringing ears.

Hope you got what you were looking for.
