Has My Husband Broke His Thumb?

Hi my name is jennifer my husband got his thumb slammed in a car door last night really hard. The whole tip of his thumb is swollen and his nail is purple. He has been up all night with the pain and he still can't go to sleep because of the pain. I'm thinking he broke it.

Hi,
Trauma of finger in a car door is very painful it may have soft tissue injury /vascular damage / bony injury or combination needed to be clinically examined including capillary filling , peripheral pulse , etc and investigation including X-Ray, doppler , etc accordingly .
Generally there are severe pain, bluish discolouration ( stasis ), swelling (which may further compromise blood flow ) etc.
So take a analgesic (NSAID), PPI ,Tripsine , chymotripsine, bromoline , Cold compression with ice, Limb elevetion above level of heart and visit nearest orthopaedic clinics .

Hope this ll help

Thanks n regards
