Had A Successful Toe Amputation And Was Diagnosed With Ostiomylitis. Diabetic. Is There Anything I Can Do Here?

i just had my big toe amputated and half of the first metatasal bone removed. i was diagnosed with ostiomylitis. i just healed up after 5 months. last week i had xrays on my foot cause of mild soreness. xrays showed fracture of 2nd bone. that bone had to compensate for big toe and couldnt hold my body weight of 288. orthopedic surgeon said it would be bad to operate on a diabetic, infection might be worse with operation. he put me in boot and said let it heal thru time bone will eventually heal.. i have no pain . no swelling no infection. what should i look for?

Hello! Thanks for calling on Healthcare. As per the advise of your doctor surgery is not indicated now. All you have to do is avoid any further injury to that toe/foot and kindly keep a close watch on the colour of the skin and consult immediately if there is any change. Get well soon, Take care.
