Good evening Dr. Rynne,
I am having difficulty understanding how HIV is transmitted. I have looked up accredited forums, and believe I know the answers, yet I still find myself in a spiral of anxiety when faced with the fear of attracting HIV.
Today I had an open cut on my elbow, following a talk with my neighbor he went to pat me on the shoulder, and touched the open wound in the process. (for sake of the anxiety, lets say he also had an open cut on his hand.) Further, my question is, is this a plausible cause for infection, and will you please share your insight with me to actual causes of HIV. I must say writing this out does make this scenario seem frivolous, but it still hinders my ability to be clear minded.
I am a college senior at Marshall University.
